The Berney Curragh Exercise saddle is our traditional full tree exercise saddle. It is made with a durable laminated wood and steel reinforced tree to give it strength and durability, while keeping it lightweight. At Berneys we know how important it is to protect the comfort and welfare of the horse, especially their back so we flock our racing saddles with pure new wool because it is lightweight, shock absorbent and it moulds to the shape of the horses back. Another key feature of this material is that it spreads the weight of impact over a bigger surface area to ensure the horse has full use of itself. Our racing saddles are a standard size to give a correct thoroughbred fit. The flaps and skirts are made from the best quality vegetable tanned leather so that it is strong and durable. The saddle is fitted with buffalo hide girth straps. This saddle has proven its worth over many decades in the training of champion racehorses including the magnificent “Sea the Stars”.
